Innovation and Communities at Online Information 2003

Next week Online Information 2003 takes place in London, from the 2nd of December until Thursday the 4th of December.

In the track on "Innovation and Communities of Practice" on the morning of the 4th, George Pór andErik van Bekkum from CommunityIntelligence will speak on "Boosting Innovation with Communities of Practice - how companies can become more innovative by liberating the innovation value of their Communities of Practice"

Topics of the presentation include:

  • "What is Generative Action Research",
  • "Communities of Practice in the Innovation Ecology" and
  • "The CI Innovation Architecture"

This presentation in London at the conference is a start of renewed conversation about the role of communities and innovation in the ECCoP blog: questions from the conference participants will be planted as seed questions next week for further conversation. Likewise, during the event, input through comments in this blog or crossover discussions in the Knowledgeboard's 8th theme (about Communities of Practice) and the 9th theme (about Innovation) can catalyze productive dialogue.

  • What is the role of community leadership in framing a disruptive innovation as a 'threat' to the organization or as an 'opportunity'?
  • What is the difference between the role of innovation communities throughout the different stages of (radical) innovation such as ideation, conceptualizing and production? How do communities support the 'spin-off' process from the formal organization?
