This came up in a discussion I had earlier today, and I thought it may as well be blogged about to share with others: Gaurdie Banister, from Shell Exploration and Production (SIEP) talks about "processes for effective knowledge transfer" (download the slides in PDF).

He mentions the well-know 'global networks' or communities of practice within SIEP, but he outlines quite nicely the outline of the 'practiced excellence through accelerated replication' (PEARL).
